Review #134 Stellum Lyra Single Barrel: Bourbon
Score: 8.7 / 10
Distillery: Barrel Craft Spirits
Type: Blended Straight Bourbon
Stellum has recently appeared on the scene as of about 2017. The brand is created by Barrel Craft Spirits and blended between bourbons aged all over the US. Including Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. Most of the bourbon has been traced back to MGP and the average age is about 5 years.
If MGP is a turnoff for you, you should research some of your favorite brands. Sourced whiskey is really becoming popular and the blends entering the market can be very tasty! We picked a barrel of this ourselves and it was quite an experience with a great brand.
Whiskey Review:
Nose: Explosion of espresso, dank wood, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, tart cream, rye spice and black pepper.
Palate: Creamy vanilla coats the palate bringing forth plum and raisin notes that lead into a potent cherry and maraschino cherry. The back-end transitions smoothly into cherry cola, red apple, brown sugar and strawberry before becoming lightly carbonated with a black pepper cinnamon spice.
Finish: Moderate in length and tannins. More cherry cola, seared wood and a tingling peppery spice, light orange rind and a vanilla cream.
Score: 8.7

Availability? Common. This is popping up everywhere. However, nest time you see it I wouldn't walk past. Especially if it says picked by Po It Up podcast (former name of All Things Whiskey Podcasts) of course.
