Review #53 George Dickel Barrel Select: Tennessee

Is Dickel still the in thing? Now that the BIB 13yr is finally losing steam after a semi debatable award, I would think so. For the time being anyway. After all Dickel is clearly a staple and one of the best recognized Tennessee whisky brands on the market. I found this guy just laying around at my girlfriends parents place, so you know I had to Po It Up!

I'll just put this out there before I even start the review. This is a wild whisky. I can't really draw any parallels to anything else that I have tried. It's extremely fruity. This could very easily be what you are looking for if you want something a-typical. If not though, you are going to want to stay clear of this one. I see it as more of a harry potter jelly beans challenge. Hey, you like whiskey? What do you think of this?

Whiskey Review:

Nose: Apricot, peach, pineapple, green apple, banana, vanilla, oak, and I hate to say - but a little bit of vomit. I can't hold that back from you guys.

Palate: Green grape, huge peach flavor, pear, oak, vanilla, leather

Finish: Short - Medium finish. Tannic leather, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, with a lingering black licorice.

Score: 6.8

S+ Sensational - The Pinnacle (9.5+)

A - AXEceptional (astounding) (9-9.5)

B - bravo (step aBove average) (8-8.9)

C - competent (7-7.9)

D - disappointing (6-6.9)

F - flush it down the toilet (fail) (5.9 below)

Notes: Availability? Common. Not sought after. So if this is your gem, you'll have no trouble trying to track down a bottle.

I really love how dynamic this is. I just didn't love the dynamics that it brings to the table. Does that make any sense. Anyway, there you go.
