Review #87 Maker's Mark Limited 101: Bourbon
Score: 8.3 / 10
Distillery: Maker's Mark
Type: Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon
As you guys know, I love myself some Maker's Mark Limited releases!. Definitely on of the overall best whiskey brands. However, the price of this (pretty cheap $27) scared me away initially. I'm a wood-finished series guys after all but those release did peak my interest in this. FYI the marketing is working... Fortunately my PIC Mike did pick this one up.
I heard that this bottle was a distillery only edition that is now being shared with the world. However, it seems more common in my eyes than some of their other releases that are very hard to track down. I wouldn't let this make my decision on the brand, but low an behold it's pretty good for the price point. See below!

Whiskey Review:
Nose: Candied fruit, mocha, toasted sugar, vanilla cream. Banana pudding (Nilla wafer + Bananas). Light ethanol that fades as the spirit mellows in the glass.
Palate: Oily and easy to swish from one side of the mouth to the other. Decadent vanilla meets sweet caramel and then builds up a nice cinnamon, brown sugar and black pepper spice.
Finish: Moderate and lightly tannic. Dry woodiness and toasted oak. Lightly astringent wheat and sugar lingers for a bit.
Score: 8.3
Scale:
S+ Sensational - The Pinnacle (9.5+)
A - AXEceptional (astounding) (9-9.5)
B - bravo (step aBove average) (8-8.9)
C - competent (7-7.9)
D - disappointing (6-6.9)
F - flush it down the toilet (fail) (5.9 below)
Notes: Availability? Uncommon. Limited edition. IMO The distiller's edition will likely continue to be released each year in a limited amount. I don't have a lot a research on it, but I don't think you have seen the last of this one if you are procrastinating.
